Urban loneliness in today’s world is a growing problem. How can one be surrounded by millions of people in a city and still feel lonely? A majority of Indian youth migrate to metro cities in search of education and career opportunities. This means managing several challenges, such as adjusting to life in a new city, forming new social connections and finding one’s feet in the working world. Such transitions are usually accompanied by isolation from family and disruption of existing social circles, which makes one vulnerable to loneliness.

Several other systemic challenges like a mental health condition, a physical disability, and various forms of systemic marginalization can also make one feel alienated and lonely.

In this workshop, the therapists at The Alternative Story will help participants develop skills to manage loneliness and addresses systemic issues that further loneliness in urban society.
